The fun times aboard Liquid Therapy. With - Susan and Brooke Smith

Day 1 of our 2023 fall cruise

Monday, October 16, 2023

First day of our trip to Ocracoke. Well, it’s not going to happen. Aeolus wind God, is not showing us favor this morning. 17-21 Knots of wind out of the NNW would be very UNCOMFORTABLE. It’s on the verge of small craft warnings. I had hoped it would be at least calmer this morning before we headed down the 22 miles of the Chesapeake Bay. But nope. So, day one will be in our slip.

Other news about Liquid Therapy is that we changed our home port marina. We are now staying at Whitehouse Cove Marina in Poquoson, VA. We miss our friends of Mathews and intend to visit in the future. We had been at Horn Harbor Marina in Mathews for over 14 years and just felt pulled to move SOMEWHERE else. We had visited Whitehouse Cove a few times in the past and it’s actually a little closer to our home than Mathews. So, we moved. One of the wonderful things about a boat like ours is that it IS kind of like a floating condo. But you don’t have to sell to move. No realtor. No home inspection. No lawyer. No complicated closing. You just push the start button on the boat and move.

So, now what are we going to do today? CLEAN. There is always something to clean. I did a good job cleaning up the fly bridge last week. It looks good and comfy. So, Light cleaning of the forward deck area. Cleaning the boat just wears us out. It’s really too much to do in one day. So, I break it up into sections.

ORGANIZE. It’s always WHERE is such and such stored? Simply taking everything out of one storage area and putting it back orderly helps the brain. And, also taking a picture of what’s where in seldom and not so easy storage areas is a big help too.

Delayed one day, for sure, throws off the 3 reservations I made yesterday. It’s a busy time of the year for the ICW marinas. Lots of boats heading south. So, I’ve got to call all those marinas and let our reservations slip a day. Tomorrow and the following days look good to get us to Manteo, NC. Still not sure about the 66 mile run down the Pamlico to Ocracoke yet. Aeolus, the ruler of the winds, will let us know when we can have safe passage.

Today’s picture is George Clooney’s boat, Oceans Eleven, at our marina.
