Saturday, November 2, 2024 Docked Anchorage Marina,
Today is all about the Pirate Jamboree.
At 10AM we had a pirate parade. Such fun to see all the pirate costumes.
At 11AM the two pirate boats had a battle with cannons firing all over everywhere. That was louder than you’d believe. I shot lots of video of the battle which will become a full feature film on YouTube.
1:30PM more of the Motley Tones singing group. They are great and will be on my Youtube film too.
We skipped the battle of Blackbeard where he was beheaded. Youtube censorship will not allow that to be shown. I’m not joking. Youtube has strict violence restrictions.
We decided to eat at Howard’s Pub about 7:00 PM. Long waiting line to be seated, BUT there were two chairs vacant at the bar and we took them. We didn’t realize that Howard’s was closing for the season THAT night. The waitress told us the multitude of foods they were out of. They were even out of hamburger! I ordered the last piece of fish they had and Susan ordered a hot Italian sandwich. Again it was hard to understand why they were closing for the season with so many people still on the island.
At the bar seated next to Susan was a local man that was leaving next week to go to Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas for the winter. Susan explained what fun we had going there a few times on our boat. I spoke with a vacationing couple next to me. They were retiring and building a home on the Core Banks of NC near Harkers Island. The guy said he had worked hard and saved for his dream retirement home. They were very excited about their new home.
Everywhere you walked there were cheerful pirate adults, children and dogs. We left Howard’s and walked next door to 1718 Brewing where a costume contest was being held and a pretty good band was playing. Everyone was having much fun dancing to the band and showing off their costumes.
Today’s picture is two pirate costumed dogs looking at their knives. Those dogs had everyone laughing to tears.
