So here we were planning on setting off on our first sailing trip on our 'rented live aboard' vessel when we realized; We have no insurance! (It's in the works, no worries) So, to a quick halt that trip stopped short and instead we went out with our neighbors on Moondancer to attend our first race!
The Crew on Moondancer, Race to Cetti Bay!
What a fabulous day, just a tiny hint of what's to come. To be fair, I (meaning Admiral Vix) did get a little sea-sick (no throwing, just nausea) for my first time but that's was because I was down in the cabin 80% of the time with Jade.
There were three boats in our race, Flying Cloud did beat us by quite a bit but admitted once we arrived that they motored in so we won by disqualification!
Despite the race, we had a beautiful 5 hour sail/race down to Cetti. Saw a school of dolphins following us but they quickly got bored because we weren't going fast enough :-( However Jade saw them, and for the next 45 mins stood on the bow proceeded to exclaim "I SEE Dophin! Ware dey go, Dophins?! Dophin come baaack!" It was a simply precious moment for us, the first time of many that she will see dolphins chasing us sailing...
E here, Captain of the Hallux and I have to say sailing a ketch center cockpit was a blast. I let the Admiral do as much as her primary duties would allow her to but her sea-legs, as well as her sea-stomach have yet to catch up to her willingness to sail and exuberant enthusiasm to endure the consequence. All in all we're glad to have come and look forward to many more nights/days sailing our little Guam coast.
Living aboard is a bruising lifestyle, as her recent spill down the companionway demonstrates. Literally, she just fell, and although she wasn't hurt, my first exclamation after lending her my hand was "I just put Jade down, quit making noise!" Ah yes, we're living quite peachy aboard our new found home. A mid a million projects and comfortability issues (which include where to mount our 22 inch LED screen), we're quickly becoming bogged out with mental evolutions. Everywhere we look we se something we want or need to change and more than ever, we're needing to chill out!
So here's to the first week over, and hopefully a great year ahead, where life will come at us fast but will always encompass the lifestyle we so incompetently have lusted to require. Enjoy!
