My partner Isabel and I live in France, very close to Geneva and we have sailed a 30' sloop on the lake for the last 8 years. She broke her moorings in a northerly gale in October and was smashed to pieces on the rocks.
Like many a land-locked sailor, it has always been my dream to take off around the world in the right boat.
Now that retirement is looming for both of us, this last traumatic event in our lives galvanised me to start looking for such a boat.
One in particular caught my eye and so I made contact with the owner and started a sequence of events that I sincerely hope will culminate in our 'living the dream'.
