Happy Halloween

Well how confusing, spring's finally arrived, so the clocks have been moved forward an hour unbeknownst to us! We found out they were changed a week ago! OOPS. But we don't really want to change them as it means my morning run will be at 0745 instead of 0645, breakfast at 0915 and school at 1000 just sounds awfully late! So we will continue to live in our little bubble until we shove off. Lots of boats are leaving, most to NZ and AUS, a few going north, like us. It's so sad to see your neighborhood fall to pieces.
We've had so much fun the last month with nearly 7 or 8 boys in the anchorage to play with Morgan and Wyatt. We knew they were leaving so we arranged "Halloween" early, with costumes and carved pumpkins, improvised Trick or Treating, and cake, in Vuda Point Marina. The pumpkins came in handy as dog food since every store in town is out and who knows when it might be re-stocked!
Tonight at the island bar there were no other children, so the boys entertained themselves nicely by setting up an amazing hermitopia. They took an empty box and put sand, rocks, and some shrubbery to make a nice playground for a dozen hermit crabs. Everyone came by and checked it out, as they were so engrossed in it! Luckily tonight Wyatt kept his face out of range, as last time they played with them he got too cozy with one and it snagged onto his lip and while he screamed bloody murder, Morgan yanked it off! Needless to say he had a bloody lip! That ought to teach him!
Someone made my week when they donated 5 fairly recent (April 2010?) People magazines! I read one a day, and took my time relishing the news that I'm already so out of touch with! Allen used to bring them home for me when he was flying, and he learned that if he held out on me I'd pay him some attention after 5 days apart. But if I found them right as he came home, I'd be too busy flipping pages to notice he was home!
So, Allen spoke too soon on his blog of boat projects...the refrigeration is acting up and he IS the refrigeration tech, so hope it all gets squared away. It's a bit distracting with him working on the system nearby when we're homeschooling. Today we had a guest here to practice his English. He's a 14 year old Colombian kid that we met when we were hauled out, he camped one night in the tent with the boys, so they helped him with English and he played Spanish bingo with them after.
Looks like we'll have ISP for another week, then we'll disconnect and have to upload through sailmail. That means the countdown's on for departure! Visas expire Nov. 8th...
