A zig zag kinda day

Well we aren't getting anywhere very fast now, with the zig zags we've been doing tacking back and forth as we're trying to stick to sailing vs. motor sailing...thank goodness the winds aren't very strong since they're still coming from the north, so there's white caps and some sea saw action, but it's liveable.
It was really fun last night just at dusk to pass within 50 yards (intentionally) of a Taiwanese purse seiner vessel that was adrift waiting to cast their nets this morning. Our AIS system (I'm too tired to remember what this acronym is for!) picked it up and we hailed them until they eventually answered. Maybe they liked hearing a woman's voice because they came back to me after so many failed attempts by Allen! We asked them for ice but they didn't have any readily available, and the boys asked them for ice cream! Needless to say we didn't transfer anything, including paint! But it was really strange to motor alongside and they were all out on deck waving and chattering away and we waved back and said see you in Majuro!
The highlight of our Friday Family Day (isn't every day a family day when you're on a sailboat?!) was at about 3pm when a good sized sailfish took the hook, so Allen hauled it in as close as he could and when he tried to lift it the hook came out of its' spear and off it went. We were going to release it anyways, as without refrigeration it would've been wasted. The remainder of the day was spent playing Clifford the Big Red Dog BINGO, and an eternal game of Monopoly despite playing by the short game rules. Currently the midshipman Morgan is doing dishes to the tune of Abba's Dancing Queen, and the little Able Bodied Seaman Wyatt is trying his best to distract him by dropping toys into the suds. Then it's time for beddy bye.
We are going to motor through the rest of these Tuvulan atolls tonight and hopefully the wind will finally clock around to where it's supposed to be tomorrow! Cheers
