It's Time to Head South
24 November 2010
Bob/Rainy day before Thanksgiving
Alice and I are heading back to Antigua and our home-away-from-home Lucky Bird. Temps are falling here in Addison, Il just west of Chicago and we've completed just about all our projects. Now we can look forward to our TSA security checks as our flight to Antigua is from Chicago to Dulles, to San Juan and finally to Antigua arriving well after dark.
For those familiar with Skype you'll probably agree that it's the cat's meow. Yesterday I called Jolly Harbour Marina via Skype, instant answer, perfect clarity and no charge. Just what budget conscious sailors need.
We just bought a Netbook for our shore travels. Last year we trucked our Dell laptop ashore in the dinghy and I was worried about salt water, bouncing around and the like. This little feller is perfect, fits in a well padded case and gives us all the features of the laptop except the cd/dvd drive, so what, we still have the laptop for movies.
Several friends and cruising buddies are down there already and we're in email contact so once we get Lucky Bird's bottom painted, topsides waxed we'll be back in business.
