We've landed in paradise. After successfully passing the Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio and now the Tennessee Rivers unscathed, the lakes of Kentucky are a truly welcomed relief. No more locks for a while.
Here's Alice fending LB
We arrived at GTB around 1300 having left Paducah by 0730, it was only 27 kms against a 1kt current and the infamous Kentucky Lock. Most of the other boaters took the Cumberland River route to avoid the Kentucky Lock due to the possibility of 3 - 4 hour delays. Well, we are Lucky Bird and we went in and up and were on our way in less than an hour, Yup, lucky LB did it again.
We also lucked out in that the local yacht club was having an all you can eat Crab Legs, Shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn cookout. Here are a couple of shots of the LB crew taking advantage of local hospitality.
The Captain dives in.
Getting full, we used scissors to dig out the crab meat
