This is the big project I've been thinking about and planning for over a year. I just never had the timing right until sitting on anchor here in Isla Mujeres. I made templates, ordered the Isiteek before we left Mobile. I finally built up the courage to start and it all went quite well. Shaping the boarder curves was the most difficult and time consuming and I only had a few "Oh Darns".
New LB cockpit
Alice and I bought Christmas lights to hang from the mast head. These were Chinese, incredibly poor quality and after two nights of trying we gave up. You get what you pay for and the four sets of 100 lights each was only 320 pesos, $17 US. Last week we went to Cancun and found lights at Walmart which are up and working just fine so LB is decorated and looks great. I'll try and remember to take a few pics tonight.
Tomorrow Laura and Norm arrive with Brooke and Brianna. We'll go over to Puerto Juarez to meet them at the ferry, then over to Isla Mujeres, a short taxi ride to Marina Paraiso and dinner on LB celebrating Brooke's sixth birthday.
Life has slowed, it took us three days just to check in with the Port Captain, Customs, Immigration and to get our Temporary Import Permit for LB. We did the process ourselves for the experience, others choose to hire an agent for $150US and miss a n opportunity to learn more about Mexico's procedures.
Alice is creating a Christmas tree in our saloon, wrapping lights around the mast post and hanging paper trees over the lights, pretty cool and imaginative, way to go Alice.
Feliz Navidad Everyone
