It's been a busy time for us having returned to the Rio in late June. We took a look at our bucket list and decided now was the time to dig in. Here's a quick list of our plane, taxi, train, bus and boat journey:

Starting out from Ram Marina, Rio Dulce:

Private plane to Guatemala City - The owner of RAM offered us a free ride, sweet!!
Taxi from Guatemala City to Antigua - that's An-Tea-Gwa as opposed to the island Antigua, An-Tea-Ga
Antigua (4 days)
Lake Atitlan - Panajachel - 3 days
Lake Atitlan - San Juan La Laguna - 1 day
Lake Atitlan - San Pedro La Laguna - 1 day - Bob climbed the San Pedro Volcano
Back to Antigua and Guatemala City for a Flight to Bogota Columbia, then Quito Ecuador and finally Guayaquil Ecuador - 2 days
Plane from Guayaquil to Baltra to get aboard the yacht Darwin for tour of the Galapagos Islands
Boat cruise through the Galapagos Islands - 5 days - Suuuper!!
Back to Guayaquil for flight to Lima Peru
Lima Peru - 1 day
23 hour bus trip from Lima to Cusco - Wow, what an experience
Train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes - 2 days in Aguas Calientes
Machu Picchu - 1 day

Turning around and heading home:

Aguas Calientes by train to Cusco
Cusco to Lima by bus
Lima to Quito by plane
Quito to Guatemala City by plane
Guatemala City to Rio Dulce by bus - 6 hours

This is our second journey south to the Caribbean. This time we've chosen to exit Lake Michigan and proceed south through the in-land waterway system to Mobile. We'll start around Labor Day and take our time exploring the history of middle America.
