On the first day of Christmas...

The month has flown by in a blur of busyness as we prepped for Christmas before we both underwent surgery...
Nev on the 13th...
me on the 18th...
so the gifts have been wrapped...
the house decorated for Christmas...
and we have loved each other through our "hop along" days post surgery...
we enjoyed the Volutone Christmas party especially since Trev announced Nev's retirement officially and proclaimed him as the Godfather of Volutone with a plaque to honor him.
And in the distance, the Thomas fires in Ventura and around have been burning.
Three hundred and sixty acres scorched, two lives lost, thousands of homes burnt to the ground!
Our skies are grey every morning and many walk around with masks on because the air quality is poor. The sunsets have been gorgeous as the sun becomes red behind the curtain of smoke on the water.
The stories we have heard of heroism and communities coming together to help one another have been sad and heartwarming. We have been donating money at all the local stores collecting for the victims and the firefighters alike... seems that is all we can do for now.
I visited downtown Ventura last week and felt so sad for the businesses there as the streets were filled only with smoke and empty parking lots...
it didn't look or feel like Christmas.
We hold them all in our prayers and thank God for our own safety and for healing.
