The Camino Shuffle!

Maggie
That's what I'm calling it!
At times I feel as though I am doing a dance along the Camino!
Sometimes I literally do, if no ones around and my music is fabulous!
But mostly its with the people
the pilgrims I've come to know and love so sweetly.
We all walk at our own pace
stay in our own choices of villages and hostels and auberges
I might walk with someone for a day or two
or maybe just an hour or two
and then I won't see them for a while
sometimes even a week or two
and then suddenly there they are
and their faces are so sweet to see again
their hugs are warm and genuine
stories are shared
and concerns expressed, mostly about each other's feet!!
And then off we go again
either together or with the expectation we will meet again somewhere along the way.
It's wonderful.
And then there are the wine regions to dance through too!
I have walked through Rioja and Del Douro and loved them both...
Today we arrived in Bierzo...
a wine region and a grape varietal I've never heard of!
It's called mencia.
The town I am in tonight is full of restaurants boastsing their local wines and so I have begun my evening with a glass of the yummy red and a plate of local grilled red peppers floating in a delicious layer of Spanish olive oil that is now my favorite olive oil.
The walk was wonderful today.
We covered 14 miles with frequent stops for breakfast and fresh squeezed orange juice and wine tasting...
My body is finally accepting the daily routine and co-operating in this dance with me through northern Spain
and I love it.
Tomorrow the shuffle will begin again...
with rain in the forecast it could be a completely different move!!!!
Salud.
