As my right eye continues to cloud over and I rely more on my left these days to focus my camera, I am infatuated with the eyes of the animals we are seeing especially those of the ellies that seem so gentle
so all-seeing
so kind
so intelligent!
Our drive this morning was a fabulous sighting of a lioness and her 3 cubs; auntie lioness was there too keeping watch on the cubs and their surroundings while they played on a small termite mound, not a care in the world!
Unfortunately we were just too far away to get any good photos.
Unlike Savuti, the rules for game drives are much stricter here in Chobe and the guides must remain on the roads at all times.
We were interested to note a decided lack of both zebra and giraffes in this area...
thankfully my lovely ellies remain in abundance!
Actually too much abundance according to the guides who have all repeated the fact that there is an estimated overpopulation of about 150,000 elephants in Botswana and there is much debate as to what to do about it as they are so destructive and their food sources are diminishing so they look to farmlands to supplement.
I'm glad I don't have to make that decision...
That I just get to see them
Dabona is Setswana for "I see"
and I do, happily!
Loved this artists impression of the eye...
