Under the overhang.

Baines Baobabs is a favorite and famous stop along the way in Nxai Pan.
These 5 baobab trees grow on the edge of an enormous salt pan resembling Death Valley, and were painted by Thomas Baines back in 1862 as he traveled and explored this area.
One baobab was documented even then as having fallen over yet it still continues to grow anyway.
We haven't had a chance to look up his original painting online, but, apparently, there has been little change in the scene over the past 160 years.
Amazing!
All these baobab encounters have made us much more enthusiastic about the one we have planted on Rancho Sirah that I keep threatening to pull out...
in a hundred years people will wonder what on earth it is and how it got there from Africa...
gratitude to our friend Jimmy for the sapling.
We enjoyed an ice cold GnT under the overhang of these beauties, chatting with those from various countries around the world who'd come to see this spectacle for themselves as well.
