Comfy in Cairns.

I booked us into a "treehouse" on the outskirts of Cairns for the two nights we've been here...
it's super comfy and we look into rainforest from our wraparound balcony...
a lovely place to come home to every night!
Seems we've done a lot of eating here...
After watching New Zealand kill Australia in a cricket match watched in a beach front bar,
we enjoyed a fabulous first night at The Conservatory, a wine bar where we nestled into a comfy couch and drank delicious wine as we devoured the offerings of an equally delicious cheese platter!
Yesterday we visited Rusty's Market, a huge market sprawled over a block of the city, filled with vendors selling everything from amazing fresh fruits and veggies to antique jewelry and every kind of odds and ends.
Such fun!
Nev came home with a boomerang and a bottle opener made from a kangaroo claw!!!!
Lunch on the Prawn Star was yummy...
The restaurant consists of 4 trawlers tied together in the marina and the menu is simple:
prawns!
And dinner last night at Tha Fish was just that: lots of fish deliciously prepared!
Cairns sits on the banks of a huge shallow bay so there are no beaches to walk here.
Many gather at the man made "lagoon" on the esplanade instead, a great spot to cool down and people watch.
This city is a popular destination in North Queensland for those seeking diving and snorkeling trips out on the Great Barrier Reef, and is filled with hotels and bars and backpacker stays.
The vibe is comfy and laid back...
I think the heat and humidity contribute to that...
there's nothing like relaxing with an ice cold beer on a sweltering hot day!
