Joel and I had a fabulous passage from Mazatlan down to Puerta Vallarta.
We stopped at San Blas/Mantanchen which is like arriving in paradise there are white, sandy beaches with little palapas. We took a ponga ride through the jungle and saw turtles, alligators, and many birds.
Then we stopped in Chacala which was very nostalgic for us because 12 years ago we sailed there on Joe Smith’s boat and I swam off the boat due to sea sickness. This time it was a much more positive experience and we got to visit Susanna, the American with a bed and breakfast who fed me back to life 12 years ago. We saw the most amazing sunset I’ve ever seen in my life. The entire sky was a cranberry red.
We were heading to La Cruz but the winds really picked up, basically a squall, so we tucked into the closest anchorage which was Jaltamba. This turned out to be a two day rest as it poured rain for 2 days. We caught up on reading and lazed around. The best part were the 2 rainbows in the sky. Amazing!
When we arrived in La Cruz our first night we met some old friends and went dancing at Ana Bananas to American rock and roll standards. We looked around the dance floor and nobody had shoes on except flip flops. This is our kind of town!!
We are excited about the visit from my Mom on February 28th and getting the boat ready for El Salvador. The cruising bug has hit us hard which is to say we LOVE IT!!
All the best.
