Home Again!

23 June 2009 | Shilshole
Arrvied home tired but happy! This is definitely the life- now if we only didn't need to return to work!!

Headed home- maybe!

22 June 2009
Watched 2 lovely bald eagles on the mud flats over coffee. What a majestic sight! Supposed to head home to Shilshole today but neither of us can stomach the thought! So.... all it took was a wuick agreement to head to Brownsville and delay the inevitable return home for one more day!

Swpet through Agate Pass at 10.5 kts while I was at the wheel! Quite impressive! Saw dolphin pods again today on the way to Brownsville.

Arrived in Brownsville to no cleats on the dock!! They were in the middle of repairing the dock so we used our lines around the rub rail instead.

Walked up to Sweeny Meats and got a fabulous porterhouse to grill. It was a lovely last meal on our trip!

Headed for Shilshole on th emonring ebb.

Oops...and off we go!

Left Port Ludlow early on the outbound tide. All went well until we began to round Point Tala. All of a sudden we slowed and then stopped!! Oh no- we ran aground in the mud!! What a surprise! We waited a few minutes and the boat floated off= phew!!!!
Michael now knows that 0 on the unreliable depth finder is really 0!!

No damage except to our pride! The rest of the day to Kingston was fairly uneventful. We sawa lots of dolphis and seals. Bella loves them-hah!!

Came into Kingston on the flood and didn't realize how shoal the entry can be! Stayed on the west end of the breakwater so had a long walk to town!

Manged to help a young girl who had gone off the end of the dock near us trying to impress her friend! Not much a swimmer though so she needed some help to get back onto the dock!

Had great fish and chips and milkshakes with Bella for lunch at the Drifter Inn. The park near the marina is great for dogs and people to interact. We arrived in time for the end fo the Saturday market.

The summer solstice was enjoyed from our cockpit with an appropriate celebratory libation!

Port Ludlow Redux!

Arrived in PL after 2+ hours- sailed past the Colvos Rocks at low tide! Quite impressive.

Had a spot onthe outside breakwater- very bouncy! Not the best spot to spend the night.

The Harbormaster Restaurant is now closed but the Inn has a great Happy Hour at the Fireside Restaurant form 1430=1730 every day. The food was wonderful and drinks great also. Managed to arrive around 1630 for HH and made a dinner fo the appetizers!

Rained heavily most of the afternoon. Watched a number of boats arrive in the shallow water.

Early to bed again as we are off to Kingston on the morning tide.

A Day in Port Townsend

Met a number of great boaters while in the Marina. It is a very very long walk to get lattes before 10AM- had to go clear down to the grocery store on Water Strteet to find a latte stand that was open before 0700. Bella loved the walk!!

Let Bella swim in the fresh water area near Point Wilson she loved it!
We spent the day wathcin the boats cross the straits- needless to say we now know why it can be so deadly!!

1300 AFter lunch we walked along Water Street agin and had ice cream- Bella of course loves vanilla!!

Off to bed early so we can cathc the early tide!

Tour de Puget Sound de Nord!!!

Cast off the lines at Shilshole at 1245. Headed on a direct route to Point Hudson Marina in Port Townsend. No wind to speak of so sails are in the bag and the motor is running!

Our first checkpoint is Point No Point - 2 horus and 35 mins and we are there!

1515 - Passing Point No Point and headed directly to Marrowstone Point. From there a straight shot to the Marina.

1710 - arrived at Point Hudson Marina- a total blind entry into the marina- wefollowed a MY and made it safely. The first port tie we've had to deal with so far.
