Rig repairs complete

Well, having been told initially that there was no way of knowing how long the fabrication job would take, today the parts were ready. We were beginning to feel quite despondent over the delay and wondered if we would ever get the boat home, but today all that changed and I set to work and installed the new fittings then re attached the rigging. We will get the rig checked tomorrow afternoon, re stock with provisions, get the weather guru on the case and hopefully set off either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
Let’s hope that’s the end of our gremlins and we can berth up in Portland without any further hassles. We have paid until the end of March so it would have been expensive if we were unable to get there!
At present I am stiff and sore from cavorting in the lazarette taking one old fitting out and putting two new ones in. One of the most inaccessible parts of the boat. I attach a photo of the U bolt that didn’t break but has now been replaced and will report again when we are on our way.
