Sea abating

17 August 2009 | Midway between Bora Bora and Niue
Stephen
We are three days into our leg to Niue and the sea's have begun to ease a bit. The big fat high pressure system to the south of us has continued east as we have sailed west. The trade winds have been reinforced by this high and as a result, we have had , 4 - 5 metre seas and 30 knot winds for the past three day, making for boisterous sailing conditions. But at least the stars are out tonight and its warm.

We think we may stop at Palmerston Atoll (Cook Islands) tomorrow weather permitting, as it is on or way. We are looking forward to having Thomas, Heidi, Manaia ad Isla join us in Vava'u at the end of the month and are conscious of the timing of our arrival there as we want to spend a few days in Niue as well. It will be my third visit to Vava'u (Paula's and LWC's second). In Vava'u we will cross our 2000 track and complete our circumnavigation - any excuse for a party!
