New York!! (Well Close enough)
19 September 2015 | Port Washington
We made the run to Port Washington today from Port Jefferson. Now sitting on a mooring for the night and all provisioned up and ready to stay in one place to enjoy New York.
The problems with the heads mean we have to wait until Monday for a small 30 dollar part which works out perfect as we wanted a couple of days to see New York which is a short train ride away.
We'll do the touring on land first then do the water tour on Tuesday next week.
This place is busy!!! There was a poker run with Cigarette Boats today and on the way into the port I was greeted by ~20 big power boats going 60-70 knots all in a line. It felt like we were caught in the middle of a race!!!
I couldn't actually take my hands off the wheel until they were past for fear of swerving into one of the them as they blew past.
See the pic!
Hellooo Everyone it's Heather here!
This is a new segment we are adding to the blog. I call it; "Notes from the Chief Officer", that would be me ;)
Basically I will be adding wee bits of embellishment, drama and exaggeration to what the Captain reports So...let's see...oh yes the "poker run" sooo not a poker run! It was the MAFIA! For sure! Gary won't say it but it's true! Drugs! Guns! Zooom! We looked very Canadian coming into port- 90 degrees at all corners. Our lovely sailboat, sweet little Canadian flag flying. All of these enormous (40-50 feet!), loud mother fo cigarette boats. So crazy! Groceries, what a treat! I luv the American prices, and the beer selection! Personal highlight; choosing six craft beers from the "craft beer" section. Yes, my dear hubby provided me with the cardboard six pack holder and let me to it. YUM! But the best, the BEST is Saturday night on station 93.9 fm it's......FRANK SINATRA NIGHT!!! YEAH BABY!!! I LOVE NEW YORK!!
man our boat smells like shit....
