Chief officer's "rant"
02 October 2015
Notes from the desk of the Chief Officer:
(Apologies for the time lapse - I’ve been finishing a really good book!)
Let me begin this with a wee proposal for schooling children; IF children will not behave in class and IF teachers can no longer discipline children IN the class, then I propose the governing bodies should allow teachers to have cocktails during class time… and cigarettes.
Rest assured when we return from our journey I will put forward this motion.
Moving right along…
Sam and I had a super fantastic watch together (Sandy hook-Chesapeake City). He and I needed that because we drive each other CRAZY…he just doesn’t have a serious bone in his body and it really pisses me off!! We had an incredible moonlit sail. It was gorgeous. Beautiful rolling sea shimmering in the moonlight. It was warm. It was quite. Peace. Sam and I stood watch. Whenever I had to go below he took the helm and was a diligent watch keep. We enjoyed problem solving and discussing what we were experiencing. As the night rolled on we found ourselves having crunchy salty snacks and discussing what foods would make the best ammo in a food fight, mashed potatoes was waaay up the list, corn on the cob too violent. We sang songs as our shift came to an end. Sam laid his head on my lap and fell fast asleep, we found our connection again – shift change.
