An early start this morning to try and make a long run today was thwarted by the second bridge we came to. The Holden Bridge was showing 62ft on the tide guage with the tide still rising. After hitting our antenna on a bridge that said 64ft I have been a little leery of the buggers. We were able to tie up right beside the bridge where we could see the tide gauge. Watching all the other boats motor on by was a bit frustrating but then a 47ft Catalina came by and started to deploy a weight bag (Water filled) to try and heel over under the bridge.
He didn't get it to sort itself out before the tide gauge showed 63ft and we slowly squeezed under with the VHF antenna bent over at each girder.

Once we hit South Carolina the majority of bridges didn't have marks on them so we were running on faith. Luckily there was a boat running in front of us that I could watch go under (He only was 59 ft) and I could gauge how close he was. He was our guinea pig so to speak.

We were now travelling up the little river through the Rock Pile. All up hill as the current was against us all the way (We were in a river)

After a long day we hadn't made it to Georgetown but we found an incredible secluded anchorage at the top of the hill in Enterprise creek. A quiet night of watching bats flit around after the bugs was nice. We are now seeing late summer again.
