Things always seem to happen when you least expect them

While our trip so far has been smooth sailing, we hit a snag after the 4th of July weekend. When we come back to the boat after our visit with Kai, we see that our LiFePo4 batteries have swollen. Yikes! Ever since we installed the new batteries last year, the system worked so well for us that this totally catches us by surprise. We are picking our brains what the problem might be, but have not come up with an answer as of yet. At any rate, we order new batteries the following day and continue to figure out what might have happened. Unfortunately, the shipping date is being postponed and we are still not sure when we will finally get them - ugh. Well, guess that's how it sometimes happens and things could be worse. The batteries are still working and therefore all the systems aboard. We are diligently monitoring everything and hope the batteries will continue to function until the replacement arrives. Fingers crossed!



Unverhofft kommt leider oft

Während unsere Reise bisher reibungslos verlief, gibt es nach dem 4.Juli Wochenende ein Problem. Als wir nach unserem Besuch bei Kai zurück auf das Boot kommen, sehen wir, dass unsere LiFePo4-Batterien angeschwollen sind. Mist! Seit wir die neuen Batterien letztes Jahr eingebaut haben, hat das System so gut funktioniert, dass uns dieses Malheur völlig überrascht hat. Wir zerbrechen uns den Kopf, was das Problem sein könnte, haben aber noch keine Antwort gefunden. Auf jeden Fall haben wir am nächsten Tag neue Batterien bestellt, aber leider wurde der Versandtermin verschoben und wir wissen immer noch nicht, wann wir sie endlich bekommen werden - Mist, Mist, Mist. Tja, so ist das eben manchmal, aber es könnte auch wesentlich schlimmer sein. Wenigstens funktionieren die Batterien noch und somit auch alle Systeme an Bord. Gott sei Dank! Ausserdem gibt uns das noch mehr Zeit für die Fehlersuche. Hoffen wir, dass sie weiterhin funktionieren, bis der Ersatz kommt. Drück uns die Daumen!
