Fish for Dinner

When we arrived in the Bahamas we were given a 90 day visa which had to be renewed by April 8th. We should have renewed our visa in Rock Sound, but we didn't so we now have to sail fifty miles south returning to George Town, hence "plan B". Of course when we departed Black Point the wind decided to shift further east as in south east which resulted in us having to have to beat into the wind vs. a nice broad reach, on the positive side we caught our first Mahi Mahi. We don't use fishing poles instead we troll lures with the lines attached to bungee cords off the back of the boat. We attach the bungee cord to a cloths pin so when a fish hits we hear the pin snap with the bungee cord absorbing the initial shock. Hoku noticed the fish on then the action began; Katie was taking a nap which was immediately put on hold. I sat in our scoop and brought in the line hand over hand with the fish giving quite a fight especially when it got close and I could see its eyes. Once the fish was wrestled aboard I covered its eyes to calm it down a shot of rum was thrown into its gills and the fish happily dozed off. We enjoyed the Mahi Mahi for dinner after arriving and dropping the hook off Sand Dollar Beach in George Town. Not sure how long we'll be in George Town, Aloha.
