Harbor View
15 April 2010 | Hope Town, Abaco's
Rick
The Abaco's are very much different than the other areas we visited in the Bahamas'. The vegetation is lush resembling Maui more so than the rest of the Bahamas, there are lots of high end luxury homes, the reefs dotting the ocean side are spectacular accompanied with long white beaches and lots of tourist from the US and Europe. Thrown into the mix are very nice towns with Hope Town topping the list with its candy cane colored light house overlooking the picture perfect harbor. We are on a mooring in the harbor, along with all the turtles we see constantly swimming around our boat. Hoku attended the small school in Hope Town yesterday and met many of the local children. While Hoku was in school Katie and I went windsurfing off the northern tip of the island. We've met several boats with kids aboard as well as several boats we had not seen in a few months. There are a lot of cruisers in the Abaco's as most are making their way northward from points south with plans to cross over to the US the end of April or the beginning of May. Our plan is to remain in the Abaco's until the end of the month then return to the states. Aloha
