Boat Prep

Depending on the currents and wind it’s a 2-3 day trip from St Augustine to Vero Beach. Vero is a great spot to prepare the boat and provision before heading to the Bahamas. There is free bus service which circulates among the “big box” stores, the beach is a dingy ride away, and the city moorings are sheltered with shore side access to hot showers (unlimited water!) and laundry facilities. There are close to a hundred boats here with us currently being “rafted up” with two other catamarans. All the moorings have at least two boats on them with many having three. We've met our friends on Morning Glory and Cookie Monster here as well. On the way to Vero we passed the space center, the day we were motoring into St Augustine we were treated to a launch of a rocket from there headed to Mars. The largest building by volume is located at the space center and it was visible for most of the day as we motored south. Yankee stadium could fit on top of the building with plenty of room left over for parking! As the weather looks favorable we hope to cross over to the Bahamas.
