Field day

Several of the boats we've cruised with this past winter have children aboard. And most cruisers with kids "do school" in the morning then they get the afternoon free to "play". We try and do the same with Hoku and most days it works out fine although the distractions in the "classroom" can be a challenge; other boats stopping by, dolphins visiting, seaplanes landing, friends calliing on the VHF radio, boat projects, etc.
Last week I did a science lesson aboard Makana for 9 kids and then Friday of that week all the boats decided to conduct a Field Day instead of regular school. So the kids spent the day participating in a series of events which were conducted on the beach. The above picture was the "gang" after the competition was finished. We are on our last week in the Bahamas and will head back to the states soon!
