Off the Boat

We had a good trip from Atlantic Highlands NJ to Annapolis with the exception of several hours in Delaware Bay, (note to self never run the bay on an opposing wind vs. tide situation when the wind gusts to 35 knots!), after several days in Annapolis we motored south to Solomons MD. Makana will spend the month on a dock there while we enjoy the foliage here in Maine. It's been strange to be off the boat for an extended period as we've been aboard full time for the last year and 1/2. And we've been ashore long enough to realize how we now run the shower and sink water full blast with what appears to be little regard for conservation, amazing how quickly it is to "readjust" to shore life. And in addition I have had to wear pants and non cycling shoes for the first time in almost 2 years and a fire has been going in the wood burning stove since we arrived last week with snow in the forecast for the high peaks!
