In the Land of Possibly Not

"Is the tienda open today?" "No, not today"
"Will it be open tomorrow?" "Possibly, not!"
This is a land that has subverted almost all trace of commerce.
December is high season. If not now, when?
On their trip to Havana Rutger und Victoria tried to visit the Gran Teatro de la Habana, the truly beautiful 1907 home of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. Closed for repairs.
The Paladar (private restaurant) La Guarida, noted by the Lonely Planet guide as "wildly popular". Closed for the foreseeable future. The Centro Wilfredo Lam, a gallery showcasing some of Cuba's leading modern painters. Closed until after December 24th. Casa de la Trova, headquarters of Havana's classic music "Son". Closed for repairs.
Entering a popular restaurant at 9.00 a.m. for breakfast, the aroma of fresh baked bread wafting from the bakery across the street, Rutger and Victoria sit down to order and the immaculately dressed waiter apologetically informs " No hay pan".
It is the land of Possibly not.
