In the Matthew Town boat basin we met up with retired, very world travelled, teachers Bruce and Cathy of the Cal 39 "Serenade" also going north for now, so we made the short overnight run to the Bight of Acklins in company and anchored off Long Cay shortly after dawn. Together we explored Albert Town, population 30, and had a few cold Kaliks in the "After work bar", of which when we enquired if it was open we were told "No, but it can be." Here part time proprietors Desmond and his wife "Teach" (she teaches seven children in her school) filled us in on the general local scene and enthusiastically regaled us in their soft lilting dialect with a variety of ways to cook conch.
Whilst here in the Bahamas we are trying to line up some work, so we spent a little time in the office.
