Safely in San Carlos
22 November 2016
Made it safely across the border from Arizona into Mexico today, arriving in San Carlos around 3:30. The border crossing was a breeze - no one even blinked at us as we passed through the "nothing to declare" lanes, even with the dingy on top of the truck. Obtaining visas and the TIP was simple - even the tolls weren't too painful. The 4-lane road from the border to San Carlos is still 2 lanes in many places, making for some white-knuckle driving, but all in all it wasn't nearly as stressful as we feared.
Spent time with old friends and family in Arizona, which was wonderful. Lots of good food and beverages, engaging conversation, a little football, and many laughs. We're always grateful when folks welcome us into their homes and lives, and hope that we can repay the favor someday.
Tomorrow, we'll spend the day in San Carlos, and then finish the drive to Mazatlan on Thursday, and start the next leg of our adventure.
Happy Thanksgiving! Have an extra helping of turkey and gravy for us!
