2 DAY DELAY

12 April 2010 | Panama City, Panama
David
After lamenting to fellow sailors of my inability to leave 'on time', I am greeted with a 'all knowing' laugh or grunt, often in an Australian accent: 'all paat of the game boss'. So.... I feel a little better. Last minute problems with windows not closing, not be able to find the fellow who did the work and culminating this early AM, actually chasing after him, not in my dinghy, but in Shearwater herself....but, all is fixed. Tomorrow (Tuesday 13) I set off....winds are light but at least the exit from Panama is hopeful....but after a hundred miles or so, the forecast really gets dismal with light winds on the nose....so motoring is unavoidable which brings to the front the prospect of running out of fuel....since I only carry about enough for 500 miles...the Galapagos are due SW 900 miles

About:
Mango is a smart, funny, sensitive and totally unique wheaton/sheepdog. . He is my partner on this patently undoglike voyage but remains cheerful about the whole affair. [...]
Extra: Shearwater is a 47 foot, very sleek and light catamaran. She is part of a fleet of 11 that were built - its a sister ship of Shearwater that holds the unofficial speed record. 31 knots! Of the this fleet, only one has flipped...so we are on the side of good odds!
