WAITING FOR WEATHER IN MAURITIUS

19 October 2011 | PORT LOUIS, MAURITIUS
DAVID
Nothing much has changed since I last wrote except the fact that, if anything, the weather picture has gotten a little worse, if not clearer.

While patience is sometimes a frustrating venture it is important to fight against doing something for doing sake.

I must admit to pressures and to a chorus in my head that says: 'Leave now, its ok, leave now'. But resist I must. As I look at the weather picture I see a front forming off S Africa and hitting the southern tip of Madagascar Sunday into Monday.

So....if I heeded that small chorus and left today, it would put me at that southern tip just when the front passes through with winds of 25-30+ directly on the nose...the worst point of sail.

And while acknowledging no weather prediction is a certainty, much less my own, and as I see boats leave, I must make a call and stick to it unless the picture changes.
