Well we got here

Well we got here, and only a week before we planned. I can't believe it. Harry broke out a bottle of Glenfiddich he'd been keeping for the occasion. 17 days out, 12 of them sailing, average distance 53 miles per day, average speed over the trip 4.5 kn.

This pic may not look like much but it is the Meaban, the island outside the Golfe, and as thrilling to our eyes as Land's End must have been to mariners of yore returning from long voyages. Pity about the haze.

It's ironic that our home port for the Semaine du Golfe should be Crouesty, a vast modern marina with 5 basins surrounded by modern development, when just around the corner are the beautiful secluded anchorages and pretty islands that we came to enjoy. But there's work to do on the boat, and the pleasures of that can wait.
