Set off with a vague plan of heading up towards Randøy and seeing how far I got. The wind was actually a bit stronger than I thought it would be so I was soon happily clipping along close hauled, ticking off the islands as I went,Vassøy, Horge, Hidle, Talgje, Finnøy. Between the islands the wind was quite light so I was only making slow progress at 3-4 knots most of the time.
At Finnøy I decided to head towards a potential anchorage I had spotted on Google Earth at Kollevågen, so continued on past Ombo. I squeeked past Ombo Lighthouse, luffing quite a lot, but then encountered a fish farm so had to tack after around 20NM on port tack. Slowly beat across the Nedstrandfjord in rising wind and dropping temperature, taking in a reef but stupidly not putting on my coat, I was quite cold by the time I arrived near Kollevågen. The entrance to this enclosed bay is very narrow and I decided to moor in Selviksvagen instead since it was much easier to enter. The first bay on the left (west) side is lined with several boathouses so I chose to anchor tucked in beside Selviksholmen. The fish farm marked on the chart is no longer there.
Beautiful anchorage, good holding in a fine sand bottom, with a straight line view back to Rennesøy – the route for tomorrow.
