LOOK. IT'S A CAVE!
21 April 2011 | GULFO de CALIFORNIA
More Fun in the Sun
As mentioned before, this anchorage is in what was a vocanic crater 1 or 2 million years ago. There is a shallow passage on the east side connecting the large Gulfo de CA to the anchorage. We were in the passage before we knew it and decided to see how far we could go. Turned out to be no problem to motor the dinghy through from our protected side to the wide ocean, as the Gulf of CA seems from this protected anchorage. In the photos, there are some that do no justice to the volcanic events that created these rocks, yet the huge striations of different kinds of rocks, made by all kind of different processes – This is the story of Earth. There was a goal on this jaunt. A cave. We found it and it looks like something created for a movie and has the untouched look of being first seen. For this we give thanks, not one piece of plastic or rubbish or carved initials. And we’re not giving the coordinates!
