KIEVIT FRIES

April 18, Monday, always a special day because it is Claire Fries’ birthday, this year 14. She was born on Zimbabwe Liberation Day, 1997, when we were in Zimbabwe and we held her in our hearts as we danced and celebrated at a concert where OLIVER (MAKUSI) was the star. Unfortunately, we are completely out of communication with the 1st world and I forgot to take care of a present in advance. Ah, She’s a cool kid. The photos of little fiddler crabs are for this girl. We dinghyed across to a beach and as we pulled the boat up the sand, thousands+++++, scurried as army phalanxes ahead of our footsteps. We both said, Oh CLAIRE. They are an interesting little animals with one big weapon claw they carry on their port side.

TREE HOUSE OF DREAMS, NICOYA PENNINSULA, COSTA RICA, MARCH 2015

What a house – all handcrafted out of native woods, cut on the property where the house stands, to minimize its footprint. From the water and the hillsides, only the blue roof is visible. Simply unique and lovely, an impressive work of art.
