sigh....LEAVING BANDERAS BAY
10 April 2012 | PT. MITA, NAYARIT, MEXICO
Another Lovely Sailing Day in Paradise
SAIL PLAN
Bandaras Bay to La Paz
Kievit and crew will leave Paradise Village Tue morning Apr. 10 and stop by La Cruz for fueling and some last minute supplies. If time permits, we will sail out to Pt. Mita anchorage this evening, then leave early Wed morning for San Blas. We plan to do some birding there so will stay for several nights. There are strong northern winds predicted in the Sea of Cortez for Thur and Friday, so we may have to sit still for a few days and wait for a weather break. From San Blas, we will once again stop at Isla Isabel and do one last check on all the nesting birds there. From Isabel, we will set Kievit on the wind and see where we land on the Baja Coast. If we can get as for north as La Paz, that would be great. Otherwise, we will probably put down anchor at Los Frailes or Los Muertos for the night, then move on north. The rough plan is to take about a week to get to La Paz. It all depends on weather, how the boat does and whether or not we happen upon something really interesting to delay us. The total trip is about 350 NMi. Kievit will report progress along the way, where ever possible.
This post is form Pt. Mita. Beautiful sail out here, winds 15-22 knots. Will head for San Blas tomorrow A.M. with small jib and reef in the main. Should be able to get an update tomorrow evening .
PS/marj: All my labeling the location of our beautiful voyage as PARADISE - The term is based on Don Henley's lyrics "call a place paradise, kiss it good bye."
