Great Birding in Puerto Vallarta

During our stay in Puerto Vallarta we did some excellent and easy bird walks in the area and dinghy tours in the mangrove lagoons. New life birds for us since our last posting on birds are as follows:
Purple Gallinule, Yellow-throated Warbler, Ferruginous Pigmy-Owl, San Blas Jay, Five-stripped Sparrow, Boat-billed Kingbird, Ivory-billed Woodcreeper, Broad-billed Hummingbird, Painted Bunting, Rufus Ground Dove; and today in San Blas I added the Rufus-bellied Chachalaca and the Mangrove (Yellow) Warbler.
But to give an idea of the richness of birds in the area, the following list is of additional birds we identified on two bird walks from the Paradise Village Marina.
White and White-faced Ibis, Northern Jacana, G.Blue Heron, Green Heron, Little Blue Heron, Snowy egret, Great Egret, Am Coots, Com. Moore Hen, Spotted Sand Piper, Green and Belted Kingfisher, Stripped-backed Oriole, Hooded Oriole, Orchard Oriole, Rufus-backed Robin, Blue Gross-beak, Lazuli Bunting, Yellow Warbler, Orange-crowned Warble, Wilson’s Warbler, White-winged Dove, White-tipped Dove, Inca Ground Dove, Common Ground Dove, Yellow-wing Cacique, Black Vulture, Magnificent Frigatebird, Mangrove Swallow, Great Kiskadee, Social Fly Catcher, Tropical Kingbird, Cassin’s Kingbird, White-collared Seedeater, Blue- gray Gnatcatcher, Elegant Quail, Great-tailed Grackle and 6-10 other species that we could not I.D.
Wishing all of our birding friends could be here.

What a house – all handcrafted out of native woods, cut on the property where the house stands, to minimize its footprint. From the water and the hillsides, only the blue roof is visible. Simply unique and lovely, an impressive work of art.
