Looking inside volcanoe at inner crater
We have traveled some in El Salvador. We took a one-day tour to the San Salvador Volcano. We were driven to near the top, then walked a mile or so to the rim, where we could see down into the large crater 1500 ft below. The volcano is inactive, so there was no real danger. The second trip was a three day excursion that covered one-half of the country. We visited two Mayan ruin sites, another volcano, walked and ate is several quaint artisan villages, and finally drove to a lodge high in the mountains on the El Salvador – Honduras border. There we hiked, looked for birds and swam in the little river that forms the border. It was nice and cool at about 7500 ft altitude.
