Water Park had Good Birds and More Fun with Kids from the Island
We haven't done as much birding this year as in the past. It's not because we don't wish to, rather the opportunity hasn't been as great. Now, we are taking the opportunity by doing, a mostly birding, two-week trip into Guatemala. The Resplendent Quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala. It is a threatened species and is difficult to find in its cloud forest habitat. It will be a treat to find it, along with many other exotic birds.
Otherwise, we have been seeing many nice birds that we have come to know. Mostly, we have spotted birds on short hikes or on walks around the marinas where we have stopped with the boat. Looking back through our daily journal, we were surprised at the growing list of life-birds that we have been able to identify this year. Here is a list of them in the order in which they were spotted and identified. Sorry we don't have pictures of all the birds, but you can find the birds in guide books or by searching the net.
