Our next adventure was a magnificent trip to the Mayan city of Tikal led by Cahill teenagers Ruth and John, who are "at home" in the ruins from their frequent visits. While John is the expert birder, Ruth is a knowledgable Mayan guide. It was a special treat to be guided to their favorite spots and spend two days feeling the ancient magnitude of the Mayan civilization - the silence broken by the raucous deep throated calls of howler monkeys. flower
