Now, on to swimming in the river. We were on the side that should be sweet water, rather than salt which enters from the ocean on the estuary side. All the locals thought the water was so cold. We appreciated its coolness. Pretty soon, everyone was splashing around. Tania wanted to get a game going. She had brought a ball so we tried kind-of volley ball. But the wind and current kept blowing the ball upstream, and only David was strong enough to retrieve it, so let's play something else. Tania explained 'Mika' which is a form of tag, and mika maybe a tiny little crab. So we had quite a rousing game for a long time and even the most shy among us ended up being MIKA. Then we had to play footbal (soccer), Tania was relentless as mistress of games. Again the wind took the ball whenever it was off the ground. But we all got hot enough to need another swim before leaving.
