Girl Power

Last night I went to a fundraiser for an important project: girl-friendly toilets. It is a reality in Nepal that 60% of the schools have no toilets, and this is one of the reasons why many girls drop out of school.
To raise awareness for this cause, Susmita (who used to work with WFP before dedicating full-time to mountaineering) is going to try for a new record in 2011 - climbing Mt Everest twice, back-to-back, within the space of a few weeks. This has not been done before by a woman.
In her powerful speech she said she is happy to put her life on the line for something she believes in: the importance of educating girls and empowering young women to make this a better world.
