Moving toward launch day

Chris / Rainy and cool
Thankfully the window project went well and actually quicker than anticipated.

Bob started to run the wire, battery bank to battery bank, on Sunday. Today our friend, and electrical guru, Rob stopped by to advise on what was needed to complete this work. So Bob is off to West for whatever is on the list. Thank You Rob!

This weekend the shrink wrap will be removed and then we begin disassembling the housing structure.

After that is finished, launch can happen any time. I would prefer to load everything onto the boat while it is still on land however. It sure beats schlepping the stuff down the dock from the car/truck.

We have received the new spring from Garhauer for the boom vang.

We also will be installing the Mack Pak this year. Originally we had added some custom made cradle type arms attaching on the sides of the boom. The intention was to try to tame the decending main within lazy jacks allowing the sail to ultimately rest in this cradle. Then we would have to buy or make a sail cover to fit.

In the end the Mack Pak was the easier way to go so we have removed the cradle arms at least temporarily. We will see if they need to be reinstalled. The height of the main sail when lowered is always an issue. So whatever means can be used to get the sail lower on the boom is certainly a plus.

We will have the boat in Greenwich Cove this summer and we have returned to EGYC as launch drivers on the weekends.

Looking forward to a great season.

About: We have been sailing on the waters in and around Narragansett Bay and beyond for 30 plus years. We have cruised and raced but now we are only cruising. In mid-July 2008, we launched our new cruising catamaran, a project we have been working on for 12 years.
Extra:
We both started off as early retirees and picked up our launch licenses for something to do on the water while building our new boat. We decided to pursue our captains license and now Bob has his 50T Master with sailing and towing endorsements and Chris has her 100T Master with sailing and towing [...]
