New Position - North West Harbour, Great Sale Cay, Bahamas

Hi Everyone,

Local Time - 15:17. No mobile/internet communication so sending this position report by SatPhone.

We have arrived safely at North West Harbour, Great Sale Cay, Abaco, Bahamas, having sailed overnight from Fort Pierce, Florida USA. Had to motor about 3/4 of the way as the gulf stream current (between the USA east coast and the Bahamas) was running north across us at about 4 knots and was pushing us back in the direction of New York. Once we reached the outer reef north of Grand Bahama, the wind was dead on the nose at 20 knots and prevented us from sailing in shallow water (3 - 4 meters deep). Not too bad a trip considering, and the best news is that we arrived back in the Bahamas safely and in time for New Years Eve.

It may be a week before we can get local SIM cards for our mobiles, and we are sailing around uninhabited islands - hence no mobile reception and no regular emails or messages. We do have the SatPhone working and can send and receive emails and telephone call via it. Please don�'t send email replies to this SatPhone email address unless it is urgent.
