windy

We left Sogut in a near flat clam and very little breeze. Even when we were beyond the island, the sea was flat. An hour into the trip the breeze got up and we were soon against a stiffening wind and increasing swell. There was plenty of traffic around us as all the Gulets seemed to leave their respective anchorages at 9:30 sharp before heading off to their next stops.
By 12:30 we had chosen the east creek of Yedi Adalari, tucked behind the chain of small islands off the coast. We realised it would be a difficult manoevre to get a line ashore with the wind pushing us sideways, so we asked the skipper of an Italian flag boat if we could tie to him first, until Dave had swum back with a long line. His reply was to jump into the water and take our line ashore himself, where he secured us to a sturdy tree, before coming back for the second line. We couldn't thank him enough.
After lunch we sat in the cockpit as the wind continued to increase. Both lines and the anchor seemed to be holding as the wind slammed our rear port quarter. Several more yachts entered the bay and had to leave since the six of us were taking the only suitable spots. I hope they managed to find safe shelter soon.
