Maywinds comes Home

We ended up staying three nights at Amos Bay because of gales, along with everyone else on the jetty. The chinese restaurant did a roaring trade.
Anyway, today is a momentous occasion, because we have finally brought May Winds "home" to Gocek. We would have liked some sort of fanfare - a brass band in the square maybe, but anyhow, May Winds has arrived in Gocek and we're so happy to be here.
We managed to get a spot on the waterfront,(in front of Mosaic Restaurant actually, whose internet is responsible for broadcasting this post) and washed the whole boat from top to bottom, bow to stern.
There's a little workshop behind Migros where we are hoping to get a new sail cover made, together with a sunbathing mattress plus repairs to the spray hood.
We were ushered inside and given the phone so that we could describe our requirements to the english-speaking (nearly) person on the other end. He said someone would come in five minutes so we sat down to wait. After refusing drinks the first time , we finally accepted their offer of a glass of water and a boy was promptly sent to purchase a bottle of water from the fridge at Migros. Just as we were served, someone arrived on a motorbike and listened to our requirements. Someone will come to the boat in the morning to take measurements and give quotes.
This is what we love about Turkey. We turned up at 7:30 on a Saturday evening and someone will be taking our order on Sunday morning.
We don't speak Turkish, to our shame, and they don't speak English, but we will do business with this craftsman and everyone will gain. We trust them.
We had dinner at West - where else? They welcomed us back and we chatted about the improvements they have made this year to their thriving business. Another example of hard work and enterprise.
