DAY 7 TRANSATLANTIC CANARIES TO CARIBBEAN

10 December 2009 | heading west
another fine day
I caught a fish today...a Mahi Mahi about 40 centimetres long and I'm not kidding, the line was in the water for 5 minutes. So Sam gaffed it brilliantly and scaled it, I filleted, Sam skinned it and I deboned it. What a team. Milo went nuts barking and biting at the fish and trying to drag it off. Not sure what he was trying to do. So we had fish and chips for lunch...delicious. The wind has dropped to 3 knots and we have the motors on and so do a lot of the other boats in most places although those south of 17 degrees north have some wind but tha's a bit low for us considering our destination of St Maartens. So we've only travelled 100 nautical miles in the last 24 hours....sigh. At least now that the motors are on we are making water to refill the starboard tank and can watch a few movies. Milo's dolphins were around again this morning and he went up to converse with them...it's one of the exciting moments of the day.

About:
We left Australia on April 29, 2007 to start our 'cruising the world' adventure with an attitude that life's too short and waiting until retirement might mean the adventure never happens. Sam turned 15 this year and we hope these travels will stay with him for life...in a good way. [...]
Extra:
Also travelling with us is our Shih Tsu Milo, a seasoned boat dog all the way from Australia and an avid fisherman. He's always the most enthusiastic when we land a fish or when the bait net is cast. Actually, he's even enthusiastic when we haven't caught anything. He adores dolphins and runs like [...]
