DAY 16 TRANSATLANTIC CANARIES TO CARIBBEAN
19 December 2009 | somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic
wonderful wind
I think the skipper was ready to mutiny today after one of his crew (namely me) didn't pull all the line in for the screecher. We thought it was an overheating problem when the port motor stopped suddentlyuntil Sam spotted the rope over the side and under the boat. Ray braved Poseidon's wrath and went in to disentangle it from the prop. Fortunately there's no damage- we've been lucky. Ray was pretty keen to get out of the water though when a swordfish over a metre long under the boat started trying to catch the fish that were darting around him. That sword looked pretty sharp! We've done nearly 100 nautical miles in the last 24 hours but in since lunchtime we've been going along at around 6 knots which is a great change from the past few days of around 4 knots. The challenge now is to keep Meander up at that speed for the next week....here's fingers crossed the wind will stay with us.
